Lei FengLei Feng was born in 1940 in Changsha, Hunan. He joined the Communist Party in 1957. He loved people. He was helpful and great, and the people liked him. He helped others happily, but he never got compensation. Lei Feng was our hero! On a bus, he gave his seat to the aged and the young. In the rain, he gave his own coat to a woman. He said, “Madam, do you feel cold? Put on the coat.” “Really? But it is yours!” the woman said. “Never mind, I enjoy helping you.” “Thank you very much.” The woman was happy, “That’s kind of you! Who are you, young man?” “I am Chinese!” Lei Feng answered. He usually visited the poor areas in our country. He donated all of his money to the poor. He asked people to raise money for the poor. So he didn’t have enough money to eat meals, but he was happy. He was not tired at all. He wrote in his diary, “I’m a member of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army! I'm living so I want to help others!” He died in 1962 when he was only 22 years old.
